FUNDAMENTALS

MAKE THIS THE YEAR YOU REALIZE YOUR DESTINY, A LIFETIME ABUNDANT WITH THE BEAUTY OF FLOWERS

COURSE OVERVIEW

8 HOURS

Our Fundamental classes have been created for those wanting to start their career in the floristry industry. The 4 evening classes cover the foundational knowledge needed to work in Canadian florist shops and stores, and allow you to build upon this skillset with our Intermediate or Intensive program.

The flowers selected for these projects are those commonly used in today’s flower shops and markets. Class projects focus on creating bouquets, centrepieces and boutonnières, which provide you with the fundamentals that every new florist needs to know.

ALL FLORAL AND HARD GOODS WILL GO HOME WITH YOU AT THE END OF EVERY CLASS!

CLASS ONE

7pm - 9pm

Students will be taught the proper placement, handling and binding in creating bouquets. You will practice these skills by making the bouquet a minimum of four times during the class to perfect the technique. In addition, you will learn cutting, vase placement and contemporary floral wrapping.

Our first class will be based on the technique of creating spiral tied bouquets, which is essential in today’s market.

CLASS TWO

7pm -9pm

At the beginning of class two, you will make a hand-tied bouquet a minimum of two times to further hone your bouquet making skills.

You will move into learning the techniques of creating a centrepiece in a container with Oasis floral foam. Emphasis will be in flower placements and proportion to create a balanced arrangement.

The second project in class two is making a wrist corsage. You will use the proper equipment and techniques to make a long-lasting corsage.

CLASS THREE

7pm -9pm

At the beginning of class three, you will make a hand-tied bouquet a minimum of two times to further hone your bouquet making skills.

The main project of this class is creating a one-sided garden style floral arrangement, again in a container using Oasis floral foam. The instructor will then demonstrate how to professionally wrap the arrangement for delivery or sale.

CLASS FOUR

7pm -9pm

At the beginning of class four, you will make two hand-tied bouquets a minimum of two times each to master your bouquet making skills.

Your class four project is designing and creating an arrangement anchored in chicken wire. This project provides you with a new medium to work in.

Lastly, you will create two separate boutonnieres in a contemporary style to finish your fundamentals class.
