FAST TRACK
10 HOURS - Class 1 & 2
The Fast Track has been specially designed for our students pin pointing skills and knowledge essential to the industry. We have selected projects best suited for a faster, yet equally valuable course.
Beginning with your foundation skills, we advance into more intricate designs over the 10 hours.
As always our classes are small, while our flower selection is gorgeous, up to the minute and abundant.
COURSE OVERVIEWS
INTERMEDIATE
15 Hours - Class 2, 3 & 4
The Intermediate Program is perfect for students wanting to take their creative design set to the next level. From foundation & technical skills to large creative works, this course has been designed to teach necessary skills and boost your creative development.
As the floristry business progresses quickly, this program allows you to stay up to date with industry techniques and design styles. As always, our classes are small to ensure the maximum attention to each student.
INTENSIVE
20 Hours - Class 1, 2, 3 & 4
The Intensive Program has been designed for those wanting to amp up and update their floristry skills. It is also a perfect course for avid gardeners and flower lovers alike!
This course includes all of our classes and project, with the goal of learning all the current techniques while nurturing your own particular talents and aesthetic.
The business of floristry is rapidly progressing. So many of us in the profession have seen a huge and positive shift. Our projects will take your learning skill beyond the next level. Much time and attention has been put into our new space and program ensuring an amazingly creative and fulfilling experience for our students! Every student will work with a professional floristry kit, which is available for purchase. This kit has all the tools you will need to start you on your journey with flowers.
ALL FLORAL AND HARD GOODS WILL GO HOME WITH YOU AT THE END OF EVERY CLASS!
CLASS ONE
12pm - 5pm
Students will learn about the most popular trends, flower and rose varieties. You will be presented with a power point sheet going over yearly availability of flowers as well as care and processing. In class one we will cover the “need to follow” florists, trend makers and influencers on social media and learn about Toronto and Vancouver Flower School Alumni who have used our program to kick-start their career.
Students will be introduced too and familiarized with our preferred wholesalers which you have immediate access to upon beginning the course. You will also learn wholesale pricing and bulk purchasing protocol.

INTRODUCTION & FLOWER CARE
In your first class, we will introduce you to the fundamental techniques and practices to begin creating the first few arrangements. We will discuss the proper usage of Oasis foam (standard and instant), Agora foam, chicken wire and The Oshun Pouch. We will cover proper handling and cutting of flowers such as rehydrating Hydrangeas and Roses.
PROJECT 1 - SPIRAL TIED BOUQUET
Project 1 will include a spiral tied bouquet focusing on muscle memory and technique. You will focus on practicing the proper hand-tying skills by creating the bouquet 3-4 times.
PROJECT 2 - VESSEL GRIDDING
You will learn the professional technique to gridding flowers in a vessel format. Using floral tape to create a grid, you will learn proper height and proportion for a balances arrangement.
CLASS TWO
12pm - 5pm
Our 2nd class is focused on weddings and events. We will discuss how long floral arrangements last, reviving hydrangeas and roses, delivery protocol and current wedding trends. In order to benefit your social media or websites, time will be allotted for photography.

PROJECT 1 - NEW SCHOOL BRIDAL BOUQUET
Contemporary botanical-style bouquets are trending and becoming more popular in bridal floristry. You will learn how to design and create this type of bouquet with proper techniques and beautiful flowers.
PROJECT 2 - NEW SCHOOL DESIGN
Incorporating fruit and vegetables has become part of modern floral design styles, and brings a unique look to any arrangement. You will learn how to work with fresh fruit and vegetables and how to combine them with flowers and foliage.
CLASS THREE
12pm - 5pm
Chicken wire or floral foam? Due to the negative impact of floral foam on our environment, florists in the know are switching their designs to strictly chicken wire, while others are die hard foam lovers. In this class, we will use both chicken wire and foam to determine the effectiveness and benefits of either.

PROJECT 1 - GARDEN STYLE IN OASIS
In this class, you will make the beautiful Garden Style arrangement, plump with open florals and wispy foliage. By now, your skills have begun to develop and these stunning and intricate designs of exquisite blooms will become existing to design with. You become more confident with your floral skills.
PROJECT 2 - GARDEN STYLE BRIDAL BOUQUET
Students will learn the sought after technique of making a stunning garden style bridal bouquet. The tap technique and the quarter turn spiral method will result in a stunning, very up to the minute creation. We have developed game changing techniques to help students achieve perfect results and develop confidence in bouquet design.
PROJECT 3 - CORSAGE & BOUTONNIERES
Students will learn and create contemporary corsages and boutonnieres. Students will make 2 separate wrist corsages and 1 contemporary boutonniere focusing on simple and sturdy techniques. Techniques moving into the future of body florals.
CLASS FOUR
12pm - 5pm
In class 4 we create a large hanging installation, free-standing arrangements and a floral abor. These designs have become hugely popular in today’s wedding and event industry and are a must know for any florist. You will learn new techniques from start to finish, including strapping, construction components, along with what colours and textures go well on a larger scale. Start to finish you will be amazed with what you can create!

PROJECT 1 - MANTLE
Mantle installations have become huge in our industry! Grand and gorgeous, bulging with lux florals, foliage and moss. You will design a full fireplace, top to bottom. You will learn all the techniques involved, and have amazing photos for your websites and social media! We, as always, will discuss wholesale to retail markups, the amount of florals and foliages needed as well as delivery and set up fees.
PROJECT 2 - HANGING INSTALLATION
Whether we call it a hanging installment or a floral chandelier the final result is pure beauty. You have seen these dreamy hanging chandeliers dripping with decadent flowers everywhere and you will have the hands on opportunity to make one in this class!
PROJECT 3 - MEADOWS / HEDGE DESIGN
You will make either a free standing ceremony pillar or meadow/isle markers. We will teach you the proper base mechanics focusing on proper weight, width and height. From the application of chicken wire to colour and floral placement, you will learn a desired skill currently hot in today’s contemporary wedding floral climate.
PROJECT 4 - ARBOUR / CEREMONY
Your graduating project will be designing a floral arbor as a group. The focus will be the design and application of florals to the arbor. This essential need to know project will teach you the mechanics and proper techniques to make a stunning display. You will learn proper cost and delivery mark-ups all the while creating a full sized, flower filled arch. Time is allotted for photography and staging. After completing your arbor and photography you will receive your official Vancouver Flower School diploma.
PROJECT 5 - CHICKEN WIRE CENTREPIECE
For this project, you will create a stunning 360 degree floral arrangement using chicken wire as your armature. Learn to work with chicken wire while honing your floral aesthetic.
MENTORSHIP
Your mentorship shall last as long as you require. Graduates may call, email or come by with any floristry related concerns. From wedding quotes to flower recognition, sustainability, in season florals or design questions, we are happy to help!. You will receive a VFS discount on all upcoming events and seminars.
